There is space to be outraged and hurt by several (read: many) things at once. When a tragedy rocks the nation, you don’t need to remind people (especially members of the groups impacted most by it) that other tragedies and injustices are occurring. They know. The human mind is more than capable of recognizing several things at once, and just because people are mourning one tragedy close to home doesn’t mean that they’re forgetting or condoning tragedies occurring elsewhere. Let people mourn in peace without trying to guilt trip them.
It is also possible to be outraged and hurt by one thing while simultaneously celebrating something else.
