For TAT (sorry I’m late). One of my favorite scenarios is when the villain has taken away the whumpee’s ability to do something, but they’re not sure if it worked or whatever, so they give the whumpee an ultimatum – do the thing they can’t do and the villain will let them go. So the whumpee tries their hardest, but fails, and now the villain knows for sure it worked. I can’t think of a time I’ve seen this except in my own writing, but it’s one of my favorites!
